​Founded in 1906, as “Childers Classical Institute,” Abilene Christian University (ACU) is one of the biggest private institutions around Texas, with an annual enrollment mounting up to 5,000 across the whole States and other countries. History:

Started by A. B. Barret with 25 students in a donated farmhouse of Mr. J. W. Childers, Abilene Christian University now holds the glory of more than a century. In 1920, the school paid the Childers family $4,000 and formally changed the name from Childers Classical Institute to Abilene Christian College and then to Abilene Christian University in 1976. Under the profound leadership of Royce Money, Abilene Christian University now holds a collective area of 208 acres for its educational wonderland.
