Founded in 1892 in Kirksville, Missouri, A.T. Still University is the world's first osteopathic medical school. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, A.T. Still University (ATSU) is one of the most respected institutions of medicine studies. A.T. Still University was founded by Dr. Andrew Taylor Still in 1892. The institute took many names in different spans of history: American School of Osteopathy (1892-1924), A. T. Still College of Osteopathy and Surgery (1922-1924), Combined Schools Kirksville Osteopathy College (1924-1926), Kirksville College of Osteopathy and Surgery (1926-1971), Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (1972-2003) and at last, it came across the name from which we recognize it today, The A.T. Still University. Jack Magruder, Ed.D. is the current president of A.T. Still University.
Consistent with the University’s heritage as the founding school of osteopathic medicine, the mission of A.T. Still University is to educate students to become competent health-care professionals who continuously develop and demonstrate compassion, integrity, and ability, while advancing osteopathic principles and philosophy.
