History:

Benedictine University is a private Catholic university having close relations with the Benedictine Order. Established originally as “St. Procopius College,” Benedictine University was founded by Bryan Burke in Pilsen. Benedictine University was moved to its current location in 1901. The name was changed to “Illinois Benedictine College” in 1971, which became “Benedictine University” in 1996. William J. Carroll is the current president of Benedictine University.
