Religion - A need of all to know the origin, existing and the end!

Posted in Scholarly Articles

The history of religion is as old as man itself. From the very start believes of supernatural supremacy to modern sects of civilized religions, man has maintained a faith on an overall existence of superior beings and their influences on human life; based upon which the base stones of various religions are laid!

Although the ultimate origins of the term is not very clear but the etymological references to the word “Religion” leads us to Latin word “religiō” meaning “reverence for the Gods.” The first evidence of man’s submission to religion is also unknown, although Adam, the first human being is considered to be a prophet and the first religious scholar, by most religions.
On the basis of cultural traditions, all the religions of the world are divided in to following major divisions;

Abrahamic Religions:

Religions relating form the prophet Abraham and his successor prophets, usually form the trails of “Bani-Israel” are known as “Abrahamic Religions.” These religions are considered to be divine, with a usual believe on the existence of God, on his prophets and their teachings. These religions count the major population of the world. The biggest religion of the world, Christianity, second biggest Islam, and another important one Judaism are commonly referred in that list. There are many minor sects and religions who claim to be in this division but careful scholars deny their claims with authentic proofs!

Indian Religions:

These are the religions originated, propagated and concentrated mainly in Sub-Continental and South East Asiatic regions of the world. The list mainly consists of Hinduism, Jainism, various sects of Buddhism, Sikhism and other minor religions prevailing in the region with Hinduism as the third largest religious order of the world. Existence of several Gods, supremacy of religious personals above common and various social rituals are the part of this cultural tradition of religions.

Kurdish Religions:

The followers of Ethnic-Iranian and Persian traditions of Kurd Language are the  major followers of these religions. The list of these religions includes Alevi, Ahl-i Haqq (Yarsan) and Yazidis. These religions are basically a merger of Judaism, Orthodox Christian and Basic Islamic teachings.

Folk Religions:

Those religions which are a result of a specific movement or are followed in certain territories with basic folk traditions are collected under this head of religion. African traditional religion like Yoruba religion, San religion, Santería, Candomblé, Umbanda, Vodou, and Oyotunji, Australian Aboriginal religions, Americas Folk religions like Aztec religion, Inca religion, Maya religion and Chinese Traditional Religions like Confucianism and Taoism are a part of this list.

Social Influences:
Religion is the basic source of man’s behavioral development. All the geographical, social, moral, traditional and ethical believes and practices are influenced by religions and vice versa. This concludes religion as the basic source of human inspiration. Wars have been fought to save the religions and peace treaties have also been signed to do the same. It reflects the fact that religion is the basic driving force in human life cycle.

Religion & Science:
These two words have been considered as two fairly opposite, or more appropriately, contradictory concerns of life for centuries! For ages, religion took offense against science as an attempt to dislodge the contemporary theological order; while science considered religion as the basic hurdle in the way of global & technological prosperity.

This trench is now being invaded due to a fairly acceptable view of modern scientists towards religion and a quite rational approach of clergymen for scientific revolutions.

Religion is the need of hour!
In today’s modern world, when technological advancements have mobilized the world so rapidly that man has no time, to think about the purpose of its existence. The increasing frustration and the pumping demolishment of ethical values are a resultant of that. In this situation, man can only take refuge in the arms of religious believes to archive eternal satisfaction.

This point is now at the top of the list of many reformative and potential educational institutions, and they are introducing various sorts of degrees and courses on theology, not for the specific clergymen but related to common matters of daily life, for the sake of common good.

There are also some institutions that are offering Online Religious Education. The offered courses are both about common theological concepts and concerned online religious degrees for clergy students.
If you don’t have time to manage out for proper religious courses, you can at least join out some online theology courses, offered for almost all big religions, so that you can know something about the purpose of your own existence!
