Founded in 1947, an internationally recognized and globally spread university is one of the 11 accredited, degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland (USM), United States. With the deliverance of even wider range of latest courses depending on today`s world technology, University of Maryland University College has earned the fame of global excellence.

The main campus of the University exists in the historical city of Adelphi, Maryland and has classroom spread in all locations around Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, Europe and Asia and through all these campuses, The University provides 120 accredited award winning degrees to her loyal students.

History:

Evening classes for adults back in 1920s consequence in the foundation of a prestigious institute, The College of Special and Continuation Studies (CSCS) in 1947. This institute, in 1959 became University of Maryland University College. Till 1970 and onwards until 1987 the university was an independent institute but in 188 the University became the part of University System of Maryland.

In former years of 1950 to 1962, the University ran a 2-year campus in Munich, Germany, which then moved to Augsburg, Germany and remained there from 1993 to 1994, and then in 1995 to Mannheim, Germany and finally, it finally closed in 2005. In addition until 2001, the university also had an international campus in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany (near Stuttgart).

Throughout Europe, Middle East, and Asia; The University offered 150 Military Courses. In 2004, UMUC had a distinct experience and pride of earning the ICDE Prize of Excellence from the International Council for Open and Distance Education. Now The University in its 22 international campuses including its Asia and Europe divisions, including the Middle East enrolls 16,908 and 21,554 individual students.
